A smashing good time was had by all at the 11th annual Celebrity Cutting held at the Will Rogers auditorium in Fort Worth on Friday, December 2nd. .  Celebrities from many walks of life lent their time, talent, energy and attitude to support the annual event that raises money to support cancer victims.   

Founders Lyn Walsh and Beverly Branch both lost their mothers to cancer and wanted to support others struck by the disease to seek treatment, have quality of life and continue a search for the cure.  Their Careity Foundation supports cancer patients and their families in Tarrant county and surrounding rural areas.  The support of the National Cutting Horse Association is crucial in many ways, including the program in their annual end of year event and donating the venue. 

Celebrity Cutting Honorary Chairs Bob and Janice Simpson took an active part in the event this year, making themselves available and participating in the program in rare form. Bob is CEO of XTO Energy of Fort Worth, and Janice recently opened the progressive Spa Mira Vista, offering massage and seaweed wrap therapies, as well as other beauty and wellness techniques that support glowing health from the inside out.  Janice has pursued education in these therapies with a hands-on approach to bring the best and most innovative programs to Texas. Bob was raised with horses on a ranch near Cisco, Texas.  

Last year’s winner Tracy Byrd returned for another win this year and performed at the dinner and party following the event.  Tanya Tucker and Travis Tritt joined Tracy in performing for the crowd and providing entertainment for all.  Celebrities from many walks of life including Texas Cowgirl Hall of Famers Shelly Burmeister-Mowery and Lindy Burch, former Dallas Cowboy Jay Novacek, Lt. Governor David Dewhurst, rodeo stars Justin McBride and Bob Smets, chef John Bonnell and local radio and television personalities rounded out the celebrity roster.
