Bracken
Equine Clinic offering progressive equine care!

Enrique Ramirez holds
Bubba, owned by Dr. Robert &
Debbie Ball.
Dr. Blevins and Danielle Watson monitor Bubba’s first
treatment in the newly installed spa.
Located in Comal County,
Bracken Equine Clinic has provided quality
comprehensive equine care to the greater San Antonio and surrounding
areas since 1990. Dr. Robert Ball attended Texas A&M University
where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science and
graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. He has
continued his pursuit of education through personal and professional
study, most recently to include extensive study in advanced imaging
and ultrasonography with the International Society of Equine
Locomotor Pathology. In keeping with his commitment to excellence,
Dr. Ball has established a progressive state of the art practice
geared toward all aspects of care for the modern performance horse.

Over
the last three years Bracken Equine Clinic has expanded its
facilities to include a lameness diagnostic imaging center. This
facility offers a 20 meter covered arena with fibar footing for
lameness evaluations, as well as, a leading-edge exam room for high
definition digital ultrasound imaging and digital radiography. The
radiographs are displayed on a 42-inch flat panel monitor to help the
client visualize and understand their horse’s diagnoses.

In
addition to the expansion of their facilities, their professional
staff has grown as well. Dr. Cris Blevins joined the practice in
June of 2006 after completing post doctoral training in equine
medicine and surgery in Edmond, Oklahoma. He is a 2005 graduate of
the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to receiving
his veterinary degree, Dr. Blevins earned a Master of Science degree
in Reproductive Endocrinology from Texas A&M University. His
areas of interest include lameness, sports medicine, reproduction,
and internal medicine.
In
keeping with providing the most progressive equine care available,
Bracken Equine recently installed a cold salt-water hydrotherapy unit
for treatment of sports related injuries, such as the following:
Tendon and Ligament damage, Bone Damage, Joint Conditions, Swellings
and Stiffness, Inflammatory conditions, Laminitis, Navicular
Syndrome, Poor Hoof Growth, Soft Tissue Damage, Bowed Tendons, Bone
spavins, Wind Galls, Post competition strain, and General stiffness
and soreness.
By
combining the benefits of extreme low water temperature (35°F)
and highly oxygenated salt water, the body's natural defense system
is enhanced to reduce the devastating effects of inflammation
associated with sports related injuries.
For
over 29 years, Dr. Ball’s practice has established itself as a
progressive equine veterinary medical practice. From routine care to
advanced diagnostics and therapeutic procedures, Bracken Equine
Clinic is committed to providing the highest quality care for their
patients and clients.
